In 1881 the Warner Home for Little Wanderers was founded with the gift of $25,000 from Cambridge businessman and philanthropist Chauncey Warner. In 1882, a three-story home at 133 High Street in St. Albans, Vermont was deeded to a board of trustees with a board of managers overseeing the day to day operation of the home for orphans. The home operated for many years until closed and sold in 1986. The board of trustees and managers continue on today providing scholarship and grant awards to residents of Franklin County, Vermont, age 21 and under for education, summer camp, and extracurricular activities such as music and athletics.
